Default Steering wheel/ control swap

I'm doing an interior swap to black and was planning on switching out my steering wheel controls with some black ones out of a 98-02 Camaro. If I can get a wheel for cheap, would it just be easier to swap the whole steering wheel into my car or is it not compatible?

swapping out the steering wheel is the easiest way to go.

I think that's what I'll do. Might even have it re wrapped since I'll have an extra wheel. I was just worried that for some reason the wiring could be different on the steering wheels or airbag.

The fourth gen Camaro only had steering wheel radio controls as an option from 2000 - 2002. The buttons interchange, so if you can't find a wheel in good condition then don't worry. I did the swap to mine:

No, just pull the airbag and then you can push the button assembly out from the inside and unclip the wiring harness. Swap over the buttons, connect the wiring, push the assembly back in to the steering wheel, and put your airbag back in and you should be good to go. I even went so far as to swap the board from my old Pontiac buttons into the black Chevrolet housings so I could keep the red backlight instead of the blue that the Camaro has. Everything works great and looks factory.

I did the swap too but honestly all I did was , got something similar to the dentists tool when they are scraping your teeth clean and just pushed the clip to unhook the old ones and used the tool to pull the wires where I could pop the new ones in. To me, that's a lot easier than fooling with taking the airbag out. But its up to you, good luck regardless of which route you take.
