Programming new key fob.. quick question

Programming new key fob.. quick question Fellas,
Sucks my 1 and only key fob isnt working. It worked for a bit when i changed out the battery. But its not working. And i even tried cleaning it.. still nothing. So now i gotta get a new key fob from the dealership.
My question is when i program it, do i need to do anything with the old key fob? Is there anything i need to do in particular when programming a new remote?

Most GM fobs requires you turn the ignition on and off 3 times and hold the lock button and unlock at the same time on the remote til the doors lock themselves enabling "programming" mode. Then if you have any other fobs to program hold the lock and unlock button til it locks and unlocks again. On 4th gen f-bodies it requires the radio fuse to be pulled for some theft reason before programming will work.

Thanks Mcginnis.. I just wanted to make sure i can program new key fobs without doing anything to the original one.
