Default 98 T/A keyless remote questions

I bought a 98 T/A back in 2002. When I bought it, it did not come with the factory GM keyless entry fobs. It has an aftermarket keyfob that says Python on the front and DEI on the back. First off, I am not sure what kind of system is in the car..whether it is just a keyless entry or a full alarm system. For the life of me, I dont remember an alarm ever going off on the car, and I cannot find anything that looks like an aftermarket alarm system. I have been wanting to get the factory fobs for the car because I dont really care for the Python fob. Changed batteries and cleaned it, and you still have to be right on top of the car for it to work. It also has two buttons, but only one seems to have a function. My worry is that if I try to program a factory fob, I dont want to screw something up and have it not start or something. I also have no idea what the key fob for this car would look like. There seems to be different fobs that I have found online. Looking at the RPO codes, it shows I have AU0-remote entry lock control, and UA6-theft deterrent system on the car. Could the fob I have now just be a replacement for the factory fobs, and just control the locks? I have checked the Python site, but they dont show what I have. Probably because it is not made anymore. Thanks for any advice.

Maybe a cheap replacement but idk why anyone would spend money on a 2 button replacement.

My firehawk had one fob and I ordered a spare from amazon for $25, programmed it and it worked like a champ.

DEI is the industry leader in aftermarket alarm and remote starter systems. They sell systems under a number of brand names including Viper, Clifford, Hornet, AutoStart and of course Python. They are complete systems not just replacement fobs. So if you have a Python fob that works then you have a Python system installed in your car. With only two buttons, that would be an alarm system with lock/arm and unlock/disarm.

You can buy and program factory remotes but you should remove or at least disable the Python system first or you could end up with all kinds of unwanted symptoms like being unable to start the car.

The factory fob looks like this:
