Does it give an error number? The list of error codes and some possible fixes is in the Monsoon FAQ sticky.
Are you using commercial CDs or CD-Rs you burned? The player can be very fussy about brand and coatings used in CD-Rs... try using a different brand. Also, burning at 8x-10x rather than maximum speed has been found to help.
Finally, the player will not play MP3 or other compressed formats. The disc must be a standard audio format disc.
