Default Radio acting up?

Below is a picture showing what it my radio looks like when I start my car after sitting overnight. The radio lighting is illuminated, but no clock, no radio functions work, and the only thing that seems operational is the sound of the antenna going up and down when the power button is pressed.

The weird part is that the radio will eventually illuminate the clock, then the presets will become available, but only after about 30-45 sec of delayed function (press a button, then wait 20 seconds for the radio to perform that action). During this time the volume increase/decrease are not functional.

After all this, about 15 min from leaving the house, the radio is 100% operational and correct in its functioning. If I turn the car off, then turn it back on, it works perfectly.

It's almost as if the radio needed time to "warm-up". I've owned the car 10 years and never had this problem until recently when I was messing with the radio and switched out the DRL module.

Help! Anyone have advice on how to remedy the situation?

Id get a new head unit, stock is prone to problems sooner or later. I mean it's 16+ years old from when made. If you got a buddy with a bird, try swapping his/hers with yours, if problems still their you know its not the head unit, if it goes away then you know it is the head unit and needs fixing or buy new one.

Trust me with are cars age things are needing to be replaced right and left, frustrations of having an older car.

most likely the problem is cold solder joints.

Can anything be done about this? Never happened before when I used to drive it in the winter of 20 degree weather.

"Cold solder joints" doesn't refer to outside temperature but rather improperly laid solder joints. If you can find them and get to them with a soldering gun or iron, you can reflow (or add) solder to fix the problem.
