But all you're trying to accomplish is to simply make the positive cable reallllly long and put the battery farther away than it was. That's it. There's no need to change anything else, and you simply attach the ground to the trunk, you don't run another cable all the way back.
Also - there can be no fuse on that wire. That may sound crazy - but there's no fuse out there large enough for the amount of current a starter draws. You just have to be really really careful how you run that wire so it doesn't vibrate against something and wear the insulation away while you're driving because it will cause a massive electrical fire.
