Default LED swap on front lamps

Swapped to LEDs this past weekend and did not know I had to swap out the flasher. Funny thing is when I hit the hazards, they both operate correctly..... Could someone shed some light on why???

Getting a new flasher btw... Just curious

Thanks

The turn signals and hazard flashers use the same type of flasher. When you replace the front lamps with LEDs, the remaining rear lamps on one side don't draw enough current to make the flasher flash. But when you turn on the hazards, you have both sides rear lamps active so the load is sufficient to make the flasher work.

I switched to ALL LEDs yesterday also. I bought the $12 flasher from Oriellys and put a resistor on each rear turn signal. They all work great!

When I put switchbacks in my 94 I actually didn't need a flasher for some reason, no hyper flash at and both turn signals and hazards work as they should

Some LED bulbs have the resistors built-in. That is fairly common with switchbacks and with bulbs that are labeled "CAN-BUS" compatible.

It is also possible that your car had an electronic flasher installed prior to switching to LEDs. That is a common upgrade when the original thermal flasher needs to be replaced.
