Fixed Antenna to Power Antenna
Thanks.
On my 95, I found a Trans Am at the wrecker with a power antenna and bought it and swapped it out for my fixed antenna.
The harness for the power antenna wasn't there because it was a Camaro (Firebirds may be pre-wired since Trans Ams came with power antenna, I don't know) so I ran a constant 12V, a ground and a power antenna 12V from the radio to the antenna. Super easy.
On my SS, I got a power antenna with a bad mast from an Oldsmobile for free. It just happened to be an exact fit for the Camaro so I bought a new mast off Ebay and swapped it out. The car was pre-wired for an antenna and the harness had 12v and ground, but no power antenna 12v, so I only had to run 1 wire this time. Even easier.
Here is one write-up using the GM Antenna:

If you search around on here, you'll find write-ups and part numbers for aftermarket antennas.
