Planning to by-pass the computer controlled alternator...

Planning to by-pass the computer controlled alternator... So, I keep going through OEM alternators and on this last one, it tested perfect and worked, but I am not getting voltage to the exciter wire.
My idea, is to hook up a relay, find a 12v ign source and make it to where my alternator is always active while the engine is running. I can't remember if it is the PCM issue or BCM issue, as far as I can tell everything is working perfect besides the alternator not getting excited.
I've tried the resistor trick and it lol'd at me. I just dont want to replace the pcm or bcm...
Now, does this sound like an oh god horrible idea or possibly via'able and runnable without reprecussions (besides fuel economy, feet per gallons miles per gallons oh well). I only fear over charging the battery or a magical electrical fire.
