Kee Audio?
Any suggestions on plug n play replacement speakers for a 2001 Camaro SS w/monsoon head unit?
Thanks

I was ready to go with CDT and decided against it. They are a huge upgrade over what's in the car now and much better than most of the mid-level stuff from almost any other brand. But they really shine as a 3-way setup with a 1" tweeter 2 or 3" midrange, and 6.5" midbass. Their mid-priced tweeters don't get down deep enough and the midbass drivers don't extend up high enough. So you're left with a hole somewhere in that 2500-5000 range where male vocals and guitars exist. With that said, you just need the speaker drivers, not a component setup with throwaway crossovers.
I would advise to look at one of the following tweeter options (since the doors provide fairly on-axis sound, we don't have to worry as much about off-axis issues):
SSA Evil Tweeters $110
Stereo Integrity M25 $140
SEAS Prestige 27 $90
Scan-Speak D3004 Illuminators $240
Scan-Speaks will sound the best. But they cost more - and rival the $800 Morels and Hybrid Legatia stuff. The SSA Evils are also very solid and the SI M25s are what I have (both can be crossed as low as 2kHz). The SEAS are a little bright and rough sounding. So for under $150 a pair, the SSAs or SIs would have my vote. They'll work with the head unit.
As for midbass, you have a lot of options. CDT has 2-ohm stuff as does Focal. Hybrid, Morel, and Dynaudio also have really outstanding drivers. But they cost a lot of cash. I would venture to guess you want two midwoofers at $300 or less for the pair? If that's the case, I'd consider the following and then some other options for a little more:
Hybrid Audio Mirus $180 (if you can find the Imagine drivers, they're better)
SSA Evil 6.5s $110 (these are new, but they look great from all the reviews I've seen in the last 2 months)
SI TM65s MKII $300 (what I have - great and tremendous midbass and full clear sound upto 3.5kHz)
Exodus Ex-Anarchy $130 (insane for the money with perhaps the most midbass, but a little muddied and the upper end is not great - might be an excellent choice in a 3-way setup crossed at 500)
CDT ES06CV.2 $250 (2-ohm driver, very good down-low but more muddied - really shines if crossed at 500 and a midrange is used)
SEAS ER18 Prestige $180 (very good driver - blends very well)
SEAS CA18 Prestige $170 (another good driver, blends better but not as clear as the ER)
More expensive options:
Scan-Speak 18W Revelators $420 (excellent balanced driver - doesn't work as well in the door as it's a home audio speaker)
Morel Hybrid MW6 $450 (very good overall driver and extends low)
Morel Virtus MW6 $380 (good driver, but for less money you can do better)

Thanks for taking the time to go into detail on the F-bod choices guys. It was very educational and I learned a lot more about sound system choices for our cars.
