cs144 in 4th gen ls1 fbody
i searched quite a bit and found a few of threads asking the cs144 question but the posts quickly diverted to other alternators people would suggest.
long story short the cs144 is a dang good alt and will fit nice and clean if you dremel it to clear the pwr steering line coming off the rack.
it also helped a bunch to dislodge the fan assembly to get a little more wiggle room to get that pig of an alt in place, and i also removed the alt mount bracket and fit it together with the alt before bolting everything up. rear bracket isnt needed and i got an adaptor from powermaster but all you really need is a cs144 pigtail.
iirc most other threads asking about what it takes to mount up a cs144 quickly diverted to people mentioning other alternatives, which had i known the cs144 wasnt a direct fit without a dremel i would have considered a different unit. but now that its in there and working like it should im happy. its a big case and hopefully can handle more heat and rpm than the stock size.
