Default OEM Navigation swap

I did a bit of searching and didnt find an answer. I have a 2005 GMC Envoy Denali im parting out that has navigation. Would it be plausible to put the unit into my 99 SS or would I be cheaper and less effort to just put an aftermarket in it should I decided I need nav?

That vintage of Head unit is VERY integrated to the vehicle,, IIRC its a separate screen and unit,
The generics are superior IMHO to the factory ones. YMV

You are far and above better served with an aftermarket radio. First and foremost an oe touchscreen from 14 years ago is going to perform horribly compared to what's on the market today.

If I were to make a recommendation, I'd skip a built-in nav unit and get one that does apple CarPlay/ android auto. They perform muuuch better and are cheaper.

It wouldn't work anyway. The double DIN factory navigation head units of that time were coded to the VIN of the vehicle as an anti-theft measure. Our 4th generation f-bodies don't even generate the necessary signal that the head unit looks for so it wouldn't even power up. Also, if it is the Bose version (very likely in a Denali), it doesn't even produce a usable output signal. It produces audio output on one line, volume encoding on another, balance encoding on another, and equalizer encoding on yet another - all of which were processed by the digital amp.

The others are quite right... you would be far better off with an aftermarket unit. You get more features, better software, and maps that aren't 15 years old.
