Ground to head vs block
Ground to head vs block I am adding a ground directly to the battery, and I have an easily accessible bolt hole on the cylinder head. Would that work just as well as going directly to the block?
Block is better because the starter is mounted directly to the block. Going through the heads relies more on bolted joints for ground path, which can be fine but it's still a bit of a guessing game whether it ages well. You don't have to guess if you ground to the block.
That said, I have my ground cable attached to a cylinder head.
Routing is a lot more practical given the chassis the engine is in. I've not had any issues for 4 years (that I know of).
