Wink Turn Stalk Viagra

My blinker stalk went limp on my way to work today. The high beams still click, but no up/down clicking action. Do I just need that turn signal switch thing behind the airbag clockspring? If I have to go in there, I may as well replace the whole thing, even if just a spring broke. I was in there not that long ago to replace the plastic horn contact ring, and I greased everything, but I guess it was time.

So my question is, 1) do you think that is what broke? And 2) Which unit do I buy? There are several OEM GM parts listed for my car: [ACDELCOD6262D] and [ACDELCO D6210A EXCEPT INTERIOR ORNAMENTATION(T2J)(EXPORT); 10 TERMINAL]

The GM part number is 1995963. The Delco part number is D6210A.

I would take a couple of minutes to remove and check the stalk itself just to make sure it's not the part that's broken before digging into the column. It comes off easily without needing to remove the steering wheel.

For anyone that finds this thread in the future, and needs help diagnosing the issue, this is what broke: The turn signal switch arm actuator [GM part #7827038]. (The part is only about 1.5" long.)

Since I already had the steering wheel and lock plate removed, and I had a new turn signal switch in hand (unfortunately, the actuator is not included), I went ahead and replaced that for now, and ordered a new actuator online for next weekend...when I will have to take everything off again to install it, since I need to drive to work in the mean time.

If the turn signal switch was more expensive, I might have just returned it, since my old one wasn't broken, but a new OEM GM one was under $40 on Amazon. By the way, I did not use the D6210A, I purchased D6262D since both were listed as matches and the latter was cheaper. From what I can see, only the color of the plastic, and one small tab are different from my original (so is the hazard switch, but it works the same). Now the silly little stamped actuator, which probably cost less than $1 to make, cost me over $25 to get new on eBay!
