The two links below are the only bits of information I could find on the subject. Who here has added an AUX cord to their 98-02 Camaro non-Monsoon radio without tapping into the CD player? Do you have any god pictures? I'm not a fan of needing to wear out my CD player to use an unrelated function. The links below show me the possibilities, but they are not very specific in their descriptions of where exactly to cut and solder. It also seems that this changes a lot depending on which deco unit you have. I might be able to figure it out once I have the radio apart, but I'd feel better if I had better road maps. Thanks!

There is no difference between a "Monsoon" head unit and a base audio head unit other than some of them had a Monsoon decal on the face. Otherwise, they are all just ordinary Delco head units so all options for adding auxiliary input are the same for base audio as they are for Monsoon systems. You can find more details in the Monsoon FAQ sticky. It describes various plug-in auxiliary adapters and has a link to a thread describing how to wire your own connection.

Gotcha. Well I didn't realize that all the radios were "monsoon" regardless of the sticker, but that wiring guide is exactly what I was trying to avoid. I don't want a CD in the slot all the time.
Is THIS one of the adapters I should be looking for? I'm confused because it says you need to have an external device which I do not. I'm not a fan of the switch either. If I don't have external devices would I be able to just wire a jumper?

As described in the Monsoon FAQ (I really recommend you read it), the auxiliary adapters made by PAC require the optional external CD changer be connected in order to function. Unfortunately, even though you must have the changer connected and working, you can't use it after installing their auxiliary adapter. All in all a rather disappointing device.
The other two device brands mentioned do not require a changer actually be installed - just that the head unit be capable of supporting one. How to determine if yours is capable is also detailed in the sticky, but basically if you have the original 2002 head unit then it will work. You probably won't be able to find the PIE GM9-AUX adapter anymore although sometimes used ones show up online. The USA SPEC PA11-GM45 adapter was discontinued somewhat more recently so you may still be able to find one someplace.

Thanks for the tip. After more reading and researching I decided to ditch the Delco stuff. Normally I like to keep factory head units in the car, but it didn't make sense for this one. I ended up spending less and probably got a much better sound by installing a Pioneer unit I had sitting in my basement and some cheap RF speakers. Thanks again for the help.
