Can an AGM battery be charged while connected to the car?
Can an AGM battery be charged while connected to the car? The AGM battery that I am getting has to be kept above 75%, or something like that. So, can I put an AGM charger on it without having to disconnect the car's battery cables?

Yes but put a battery maintainer on it and use a timer to keep it from over cooking.. shouldn't need more than 5 to 10 minutes per day on trickle to stay happy.. Works for me,, on the other hand my jeep easilyt sits for 2 or 3 month and loses no charge.. but it hs very little in hot electronics.

It would suck disconcerting the battery every time just to charge like that.
You lose all the radio presets and it resets the long term fuel trims in the tune...
doesn't take to long to rebuild the LTFT file and if the tune is close you probably won't even notice.

Battery's just arent made as well as the used to. I had an Interstate in my 79 Trans Am for 14 years. Stored every winter and probably charged twice during the 6 months it sits. I recently went with an aftermarket Pioneer CD blue tooth stereo and now if it doesnt get charged in 30 days, it will drop lower than 11 volts. Car has the original factory quartz clock in it and it still works fine but that doesnt draw hardly anything. I disconnect the battery now. Car now has a NAPA battery in it and so far, so good. 3 years old. Hard to find Interstate batteries around here that aren't way over priced. Duralast in my other cars and they don't last like they used to. The newer digital "smart" chargers is what i have now. I wont use the older style 10 amp/2 amp chargers any more with keeping an eye on them and never over night. They have been known to cause fires. Low end "tenders" aren't trust worth either. IMO. My new to me 02 Trans Am has a Die hard battery in it from 2022. Car is stored in a heated man cave. Every 2 weeks the smart charger goes on it. Duralast "Gold" and their red labeled battery are one in the same. Difference being you pay 50 bucks more for a better warranty. Walmart battery's and Duralast are made by Johnson Controls.
