Default Cam and map sensor not reading after swapping cam sensor

Got a 99 firebird with a stock engine harness. After rebuilding and reinstalling the engine and having an injector connector snap off I went through the harness to check for any other issues like broken wires. I changed out the cam sensor while i was at it since its over 20 years old. I hooked everything back up and now the map sensor, which was working before, aren't reading. Code reader is showing the map stuck at 3 and no cam signal. I verified that I have the correct wires connected to each one(cam sensor has a longer lead to plug coming from the main harness bundle. It feels unlikely that I killed them both with the battery unplugged. Is there a wire that both connect to or do they both ground and reference at the pcm and may have a bad pcm? Car starts hard and I still get tach sweep but no tach signal at the dash(no issues before). Any ideas?

I did a cam swap myself last year. Had the same problem with starting and still had tach. I found a connector near the front of the passenger side valve cover (right by the oil fill tube) that was unplugged. It has the same color wires as the cam sensor. Plugged that in and it starts right up every time. I’d assume you got a cam with the reluctor in the rear…

I’m no help on the MAP sensor other than just to make sure it’s completely pushed in. I would think if it was a little loose that it would maybe cause idle problems like a vacuum leak though.

I know the plug your talking about. It's plugged in. Code reader giving me a code for the cam sensor low voltage. Guess I'm going to just take the intake off again and cobble check my plugs

Aftermarket delphi but I'll throw the old one in and see. Still doesn't explain the map sensor but it's a starting point.

Yeah I was maybe going to suggest trying the old one too. I was doing a ton of research on this not long ago because it was looking like I was going to have to change mine before I found the unplugged connector. This link has a lot of good info.
