2000 Firebird Hazard Lights Not Working

Default 2000 Firebird Hazard Lights Not Working

I have a 2000 Firebird that has turn signals that work perfectly with hazard lights that do not. I purchased the shop manual to get the correct wiring diagrams and troubleshooting steps.
I have the stock flasher untis in both turn signal and flasher signal and have swapped with same result so both flashers work for the turn signals.
Going through the steps:
Step 3 - I probe C216 terminal K with a test lamp and turn the switch on - the lamp does not flash but has a steady light
Step 5 - Test lamp on flasher terminal B - no flash
Step 7 - Test lamp to flasher terminal A - lamp illuminates

Above steps seem to point to replacing lamp flasher but the flasher works on the turn signal and it is the stock part. Anyone else run into something like this?

What are the symptoms of your hazards not working? Do they turn on and stay solid or do they not turn on at all?

Your test of the flasher is producing the expected results for a factory flasher. Testing with a test light at the terminals (with the flasher plugged in) will produce steady illumination on both sides - terminal A because it is the power input from the STOP/HAZARD fuse and terminal B because the test light doesn't provide enough load to make the thermo-mechanical flasher flash.

There is no light on dash or outside, no flash, no sound - nothing

In that case, I would suspect the switch is the source of the problem. Do you have a multimeter in addition to your test light? If so, you should unplug C216 and test for continuity between pin K (the power input) and pins H, J, M, and N (the output to left front, right front, left rear, and right rear respectively). If the switch is faulty, you won't have continuity with those connections, so no output will go to your lights.

Unfortunately, that is where I was thinking this journey would lead. I do have a multimeter so can do those tests this weekend when I am playing with the cluster in the other thread.

A local auto electric wanted $100 to diagnose so I bought the factory service manual instead. I am not a fan of going into steering columns but will look for an opportunity to do so and replace the switch after I run the tests you suggest.

Providing an update on this. I was able to obtain a salvage column and plug it in and the 4-ways work. I am having a column rebuilt from the two donors as both have movement in and around the tilt mechanism that was so bad it was starting to crush wiring in the original column. I appreciate the support on this, but it turn out this was only a symptom of a larger problem. Apparently the previous owner used to use the steering wheel as a means to get in and out of the car.
