99 Trans Am speaker issue

99 Trans Am speaker issue I have a 99 Trans Am with the Monsoon head unit with an added auxiliary output. Speakers have all been upgraded through Kee Audio.
Speakers have been in the car for 3 years now with no issue. Recently I've been noticing the volume jumping randomly. I believe the only speakers affected are the front door speakers, and it sounds more like I'm losing a layer of sound than just the volume changing if that makes sense. I checked the connections to those speakers and everything appears ok. Usually it starts when I'm driving. Turning the fade up on the front seems to stop them from surging. Both front speakers do it at the same time

Any chance that the "layer" you're missing is the treble from the tweeters? The Firebird Monsoon system is unique in that the tweeters in the doors and the hatch area are powered directly from the head unit rather than from the Monsoon amp. Each tweeter's wiring has a passive high-pass filter inline that is known to eventually fail. That could be what's happening here.
Conversely, if the tweeters work fine but the sound you're losing is from the other speaker components, then it could be the Monsoon amp getting flaky.
