Head unit upgrade review
So many years ago I replaced all speakers in the car with a kee audio package with the Bazooka sails. After install the sound was a tit better but not much and I just lived with it for a couple seasons until it just wasn't cutting it anymore.
Started hearing about people fitting double dins in these so I went that route and like a dip **** not knowing any better I installed a Walmart special Dual xdvd276bt. Now car electrical/ car audio is definitely not my strong suit lol and I didn't know any better but that thing sounded like absolute dog **** and I dealt with it for a few more years unit just recently.
Started researching car audio on this site to add a aftermarket amp and sub setups and I came across thread after thread with WhiteBird00 saying how the factory head unit produces lots of distortion and bashing Walmart special double dins (Dual, Boss ect.) as being distortion machines and being absolute trash. Now I didn't really wanna add subs and go that route so after reading all those threads I changed gears again and started looking for a quality double din.
Ended up going with the Kenwood DMX7709S and installed it yesterday morning. Holy **** what a difference that made....I had no idea..... Everything is crystal clear and the Monsoon system actually is a VERY nice factory sound system imo with a couple upgrades. I can now crank it up with good bass and no distortion. Sure with I would have done this 10 years ago....o well.... better late then never. It's actually a pretty wicked little system.
Just figured I would post my experience since I always hear Monsoon system bashing when in reality it's a VERY good system with a couple simple upgrades. Maybe save someone some grief that dosen't wanna go the component/amp/sub route like I didn't want to.
Like always, great info on this site that helped me a ton.
Congratulations on your new system.
Congratulations on your new system.
Re- wiring and adding subs to my Trans Am was REALLY not a route I wanted to go.
The Mansoon system definitely gets a bad rap. I think it really shines with 70's rock also. Like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard ect. That type of music sounds really clear and really full.
Just wish I knew better and didn't deal with that pile of dog doo doo for so long !
