Hello.. I'm trying to put some stuff back together on my 2002 Camaro z28, and I found a weird wire with a fuse sticking out of it. The other side of the fuse is not attached to anything and I see a black wire hanging out nearby. I'm trying to figure out if the fuse is supposed to attach to the black wire but I cannot find any information on what the wire is and what it's supposed to connect to. I've looked through all the wiring diagrams I can find for the car and can't find this wire.. It appears to be purple with a black stripe, and it is located on the right side under the passenger side glovebox. I've attached a couple pictures of it below. Does anyone know what it might be? Maybe something somebody installed at some point?
Thats a DEI 451M door lock control module for a DEI alarm or keyless entry system. That wire is 12V positive battery input to operate locks when commanded by the alarm.
Oh awesome, thank you! I'll look and see what else I can find on that. Do you happen to know what that fuse connects to? I see the red wire connects to the purple wire through the back of the connector but that fuse on the end of the connector doesn't connect to anything else.

That fuse is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in amateur car wiring. Whoever did that should put down the electrical tools and step away from the vehicle.
The purple/black wire has different uses depending on the type of vehicle locking system it's installed in. In the case of f-bodies, which have a grounding trigger for the power locks, that wire should go to a chassis ground. I would bet that the disconnected black wire which looks to have the other half of the quick connect goes directly to ground. The fuse should not be there (the expected fuse is already in the fuse holder that's part of the module's harness) and the black wire should plug into the purple/black wire. However, I would not do that without checking that the black wire actually goes to ground and what the red wire spliced into the connector is doing. The installation manual for the module does not show any other wire being spliced into that purple/black circuit - it should just go to ground without any other connections - and I'm concerned that the same moron who put the fuse there may have added power via that red wire for some unknown reason. That would cause a short of whatever circuit that red wire is spliced into when the black wire is plugged in. And that could cause serious issues depending on which power circuit was used.
