Default Blue/white to blue….necessary or not

Wrapping up my new double din install. Here’s a drawing…. Is the blue wire from the harness adapter to the blue/white from the HU harness necessary or not?

what about the orange to orange?

thanks in advance

The standard aftermarket stereo harness colors are listed in the Monsoon FAQ sticky linked at the top of this forum.

Plain blue is for the power antenna control... standard equipment in Trans Am but not generally installed in Camaros. Blue/white is the remote turn on for an external amp which is not used in 4th gen f-body factory systems (the Monsoon amp uses signal sensing instead).

Orange and orange/white are for head unit display dimming. Plain orange is for variable dimming to match the factory illumination - very few aftermarket head units have this capability. Orange/white is for simple on/off dimming - connected to the parking light circuit, it will dim the display when the lights are on.
