Default 4th gen speaker brackets? High quality

Anyone know where I can get upgraded speaker brackets for the 4th gen (monsoon)? I’m upgrading to much better 6.5” and feel the factory brackets are flimsy (and old/brittle).

In all the years I've been here, I've never heard anyone complain about the speaker mounts. I think you'll be fine with what's there. Hopefully, your "much better" speakers are the right types for the mounting locations (specific types for Monsoon configuration and different between Camaro and Firebird).

When compared to current aftermarket speaker brackets the walls are thinner. The mounting holes line up but I’ll need to cut out the back opening for the speaker motor/magnet to fit (JL C7). If I don’t find a solid replacement I could try reinforcing the walls with fiberglass/resin.

I have to assume from your response that you are not retaining the Monsoon amp. Putting in $600/each speakers for a Monsoon system is massive overkill and won't improve the sound in the slightest over a $200/pair set of speakers. The door speaker mounts are more than sufficient to hold a speaker that is only putting out about 35 watts RMS from the Monsoon amp.

correct. It’s a complete overhaul of the sound system. Not much factory items left in my car other than body panels, dash, rear brakes and speaker brackets. Haha. I only referenced the monsoon in my original post to provide clarity on the system I had.

the c7s will get 125 watts each. Because of the cost I wanted to make sure the install is perfect.

At this point I think your only option if the existing brackets aren't sufficient is to design and make your own.
