Can't enter programming mode
Hey fellas I've got a 02 Firebird v6 that won't enter programming mode at all. I've tried to get into key fob pairing mode and now programming mode and nothing is working. Any suggestions?
Try a new battery in the remote? Might need a fresh pairing with the car. It tells you how in the owners manual.
I've got a brand new remote and tried replacing the battery for the hell of it, the problem is the car won't even enter the "mode" to pair with it. The locks aren't cycling and there's no chimes.

There are two different programming modes - one to program the entry/exit and optional alarm options (horn honking, lights flashing, etc.) and one to match new remotes. Entering each of the modes is a little different and the system is very sensitive to having the steps followed precisely. Entering the alarm programming mode sounds one or two chimes (depending on whether the optional alarm is installed) while the remote matching mode locks and unlocks doors instead.
REMOTE MATCHING
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN, then to OFF. This will disarm the content theft-deterrent/alarm system (if equipped). DO NOT skip this step even if you know you don't have the optional alarm.
2. Remove the RADIO fuse. This fuse is located in the main fuse block which is located on the left side of your instrument panel.
3. Turn the ignition key from OFF to RUN three times quickly (within five seconds). Leave the ignition in RUN. The vehicle will respond by locking the doors, unlocking the driver’s door and releasing the hatch. Your transmitter is now ready to match the vehicle.
4. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first transmitter for 15 seconds. The vehicle will respond as in Step 3.
5. Repeat Step 4 for the remaining transmitters.
6. When you have finished matching all of your transmitters, turn the ignition off and replace the RADIO fuse.
7. Check that all transmitters work by pressing the buttons.
