Is it a waste of time - factory gauges in different dash So I've got a 51 Pontiac that I've dropped an 2005 LQ4/4L80e in, and I'm looking at gauges for it. I'm trying to keep everything looking stock inside the car and don't want a trio set hanging under the dash. The originals are 6v (not an issue), but the old sending units are too big for the LS ports. Looking at the dash cluster from an early 2000s Chevy pickup, the physical size of these gauges would fit the openings of the original Pontiac gauges. So I have to ask the experts:
1. Can the individual gauge/dials be removed from the main cluster and still be usable?
2. I only have the stock ECM but not the BCM - will the gauges function without it?
I don't have a cluster to play with and before I waste $50+ to buy one, is this something that could possibly work or is it a big waste of time??
