Monsoon thinks CD is loaded??

Monsoon thinks CD is loaded?? My first post...
I searched the threads quite extensively and found nothing on this subject....
My stock monsoon, ended up with the dreaded E20 code, so I purchased another stock head unit on e-bay. Installed the head unit and there was a CD in it. Ejected the CD fine, but now it acts as if there is still a CD in it. The silver bars are up and it will not accept another CD. Eject doesn't help, cycling the power doesn't help, even completely unplugging it doesn't seem to want to reset it. It momentarily shows the CD symbol on the display, but then it will go out, but it still acts as if a CD is loaded. (I don't physically see one in it either)
The previous owner said he had no problems with it and even informed me that he'd accidently left a CD in it before removing it from the car. It had a CD in it so I don't think this is a lemon intentionally dumped on me, but why now all of a sudden will it not load another CD as if it thinks one is already loaded?
Has anyone over come this problem? Am I missing something?
