6 Disc Changer

6 Disc Changer Hey guys a have a '98 Trans Am... I heard that they came pre-wired to plug in a GM 6 Disc Changer, Its on the Drivers side of the car in the hatch, does that sound correct? If so anyone know where I can get 1 at a fairly deccent price? Thanks CHRIS

Yes, the cabling for the CD changer is already installed even if you don't have the changer. You can put a GM 6-disc or 12-disc changer in the opening on the driver's side by where the t-tops get stored. You'll have to do a little work on the mounting because you won't have the welded-in bracket that was used for the factory installation. The cable is taped to the speaker wires on the left side in the hatch area.
Best place to get one at a decent price is here on the board (or LS1.com) because lots are sold when people upgrade to an aftermarket system, or on ebay. Just don't get one from a truck because they're designed to mount vertically rather than horizontally.
