Audio Idiot Hey I was hoping to find some help... Im looking to upgrade my sound system... I love Rogue Leader's post and will follow along his lines... I was also considering a single sub with the 'stealth box' that lies in the cubby hole in the trunk... I don't want to lose my t top storage. Would it be a smart idea to have an amp to power this sub? Please help me reach a little understanding with audio. I mostly listen to country but I like all kinds of music and like to play it all loud.

why wouldnt you use an amp for a sub? how else are you thinking about powering it?
because you said you listen to mostly country, i would suggest one 10"..you would be surprised how much it will change the sound in your car... in a stealth box would be fine.... anywhere you wanna put it, you're gonna get good sound, thats just how f-bodies are designed.

1. MTX Stealth Box w/ 10" sub
2. 1 AMP
3. 1 AMP kit to install the amp.. Go with a fairly good size amp wire gauge.

i Agree. I have alpine speakers in my car and although they now have a 4 channel JBL amp powering them (and sound amazing) they sounded good when only powered by an alpine head unit. MTX is an awsome brand of subs and amps. I have 1 10" MTX 8000 series (powered by MTX 4250 mono block) and it hits so hard, most people assume i have 2 12's. Its all about the right sub with the right amount of power in the right box. Also the right head unit makes a big difference. A nice alpine or eclipse can make a huge difference over some of the lesser brands. In car audio, you get what you pay for, so dont by something cheap and expect it to sound like you dropped alot of money on it.
