Default Stereo mounting brackets

I'm trying to mount a 1.5 DIN head unit to replace the original Monsoon unit but I don't have the correct brackets. The older factory radios used to have the two side brackets bolted to the radio so it was easy to unbolt them and use them on the new unit. But the brackets on the Monsoon don't come off. Do any of the mounting kits come with these brackets or is there someplace else I can get them?

I would go see your local car stereo shop. I think they might be able to hook you up with some ABS brackets they probably have in the back, or you should be able to find a Metra kit that has them.

I was thinking of the Metra kit but when I look at the picture, it looks like the kit comes with the brackets as part of the faceplate that holds the normal DIN radio in place. I would need separate brackets that bolt to the sides of the replacement radio.

There's more than one GM Metra kit, I think there's one with the brackets you need. I would ask someone on Carsound's forums, alot of installers hang out there.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Well, they don't give instant access to new users there. I registered but will have to wait for "approval" from the administrators before I can search.

In the meantime, any other help or suggestions are welcome...
