Default Bad idea?

I got the PAC converter in today and now I have RCA preamp outs to run a sub and keep everything else stock (for the budget limited moment). Is it a bad idea to run the sub's line through the tranny tunnel/console? Is there too much electrical noise in that area?

The amp will essentially be where the bottom part of either the rear passenger or driver seat is -- getting boxes to replace the seats and do something useful back there.
My '99Z comes in Thursday and I want to have all the stuff as ready as possilble to put in over the weekend with as few "oh damn I forgot to get ____'s at the store".
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but if the speaker wires run down the poassenger side, then the amp's power will have to be routed through the firewall on the pass. side then all the way around the driver's side? I've never done anything mroe than a receiver swap in a car but thanks to this forum and a couple of others I have no fear installing an amp and sub.
Thanks in advance.
