Default Who has insulation on hood?

I am new to Camaros and my SS has a bare hood. Every other car I have ever owned had a hood liner. I think it would help my whole sound deadening project. Do the non-SS hoods have a liner and would it fit my hood? I like the look of the hood but making it quiet would be nice too.

Also I plan to put sound dampener on the floor over the winter, how far up the firewall do people go?

My hawk hood doesn't have a liner. I've seen an SS hood and no liner on it.

On the other hand, I had a 93 Formula and it had liner on it. Bought aftermarket (Harwood) ram air hood and reused the linear on it.

The 98 and 99 models came with the hood insulation but it was dropped starting with the 2000 model. The part number 10272374 (10272375 for Firebird) is listed as fitting all 98-99 Camaro hoods - including the SS. There is no reason it wouldn't fit a later model.

Great, thanks for the part number.

Dynamat and a few other brands make hood liners that are suppose to be great.

I picked up a factory Camaro hood liner but does anyone have a picture showing where it goes on the hood, the holes are not drilled for the little clips and the liner is actualy quite a bit smaller than the hood.

Could you post a picture before you take it off? I really want to see where it is supposed to go before I put mine on.

there is no liner for the SS hoods period. You probably bought one for a non SS hood.

Now what would make you say that? The GM parts book shows the liner fits all models of Camaro (i.e. FP67 and FP87) for 98 and 99 but was not included for 2000 and up. Of course, since the hoods didn't change in 2000, there's no reason that the liner couldn't be added to newer models.

That is exactly what I am doing. I am adding a liner to a 2001 because it doesn't come with one.

Actually, now that I see it has cut outs to fit over the hinge mounts, you can't really put it on wrong.

Neither of my cars have a hood liner and they are both '99s. what is the point of the liner. IMO, unless you are putting sound deadening on much more of your car, this is pointless. much more sound is coming in from other places

A fireman in my car club recommends that everyone have hood insulation to protect your hood during an engine fire until you can extinguish it (having seen the difference they make first hand). Although, that club is all classics with carburetors and questionable wiring that is lightyears behind what is in our cars.

I have never heard that before and I live in the snow! It more important to have a block heater. Once the car is running, insulation of the hood makes no difference. A lot of cars have problems with too much cold air from the grill area preventing a car from warming up fully or just slowly but its not a hood thing.
