Guage Cluster question....

Guage Cluster question.... If I change out my guage cluster with one from ebay, would my odometer read what my actual miles that were on my original cluster are, or will it read what the ebay cluster had on it?

So if I get a cluster that has 10,000 miles on it and go trade the car in the dealer wont know any better? Not that I am going to do that, my plan was to buy a cheap cluster so that I can use it while my cluster is being calibrated and getting the 200mph guages from Grantelli (disregard spelling). But if my car is not going to register the right milage I may have to not drive it during the transistion.
