Delco Head Unit interchangeability?
Delco Head Unit interchangeability? I have a 01 Silverado and my c/d player is acting up..What years can i replace it with? Will a Monsoon out of a Camaro work? Also what about trying to put a bose unit in it form an 03-04? TIA..

A Bose unit will only work in a Bose system unless you buy a special adapter. However, there is no real difference between a Monsoon and any other head unit. The Monsoon systems are different only in the external amp and speakers.
As far as using a Camaro or Firebird unit, I don't think it will fit. The F-body radios are 1.5 DIN size whereas I think the Silverado has a double DIN size unit.

I took my Monsoon headunit out of my Camaro and put it in my 2000 Silverado (had a base Delco with casssette). It was a direct swap, just had to mount it with some sheet metal screws using some washers to bring the headunit forward alittle. There are already plastic tabs that you can mount it to in the dash. The plug was a direct fit too.

I'm not sure what year GM started using double DIN head units. If the 1.5 DIN fit in the 2000 then there's a good chance that the 2001 will be 1.5 DIN as well. But I'm pretty sure that the 03-04 models had the larger radio.
Yeah our '03 Yukon at work has the bigger head unit along with my dad's '03 Sierra. Our 2500 HD at work has the same size radio as in my pick up. I'm almost positive that it's an '01.
