Power Antenna Problem

Power Antenna Problem Alright, I know I'm gonna catch a little grief for driving in the winter, but that aside. Here's the issue. My power antenna is now making a terrible grinding sound when it's SUPPOSED to be moving either up or down. It's been stuck in one position before and I've 'persuaded' it down by hand before, and there's always been a little resistance. This time however, it slide in WAY too easily. I figure something's gotta be disconnected in there. Any ideas where and what to look for to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it might be broken. If it is, you can order a new one from GMPartsDirect for $70 + shipping.

if its stuck up, you can get to the actual unit via the spare tire well, and pull or cut the plastic gear strip that goes up into the antenna mast and pull that out
it ll go down after that
