Default What wire for radar detector

I am in the process of tapping into my wiring for my radar detector and was wanting to know if someone could tell me what wire to tap into that is a 14-16 ga. that is a key on wire. I read that you could tap into the orange wire coming from the radio but that is a 12 ga. and my connectors are too small for that so i was just wondering if there was another one that is a smaller size.

You can tap into the power and ground coming from the foglight and ASR/TCS switches. That's what I did, works like a charm.

Why not strip some of the insulation back and solder the wire to the 12ga. Generally I use a bigger wire when hooking up radar because there is more of a gap between the fuse rating and what the actual device pulls in terms of amps.
