Default Alarm Problem

Very curious problem that has develped with my security system. My car still has the factory alarm in it. Whenever I set it, the horn chirps twice just like it should. But a few seconds after the confirming chirps, the alarm goes off. Doesn't matter if i set it using the key ring transmitter or by just hitting the power door lock button on the inside, either way, after about 5 seconds, the alarm goes off. Any ideas on how to fix??

Default Alarm Problems

Alright, so far this topic isn't getting any love in the "electronics" forum, so I'll give it a shot over here. For the past couple of days my alarm will go off about five seconds after i arm it. Doesn't matter if i arm it with the key fob or by just using the power lock button. I tried messing around with the alarm settings but that didn't work. Any ideas??? Still has the factory GM alarm by the way.

I had the same thing happen to my car twice. Each time it was the alarm shock sensor going bad that caused the problem. The shock sensor for the alarm is located next to your passenger side rear speaker in the way back of your hatch. If you take the spare tire cover off you should be able to find it. I have been told that having them set way too sensitive can also cause problems. Maybe someone on here will know how to retard the sensitivity of these things.

to make it less sensitive, all u have to do is twist a little *** on the side of the device...look in your little book that comes w/ the car, it will say in there how to do it exactly...good luck!

I had the same problem to adjust the sensitivity you just turn the **** on the sensor mounted by the spare tire. I adjusted mine both ways and nothing helped. The manuel tells how to turn off the shock sensor then the rest of the alarm works but not the sensor. It stopped the annoying alarm going off at a cost though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

This crazy *** alarm thing. Yesterday, just for ***** and giggles i went and tried to set it, and it worked perfectly. Go figure. Perhaps when i get a free minute or two i'll investigate the shock sensor. Thanks for the replies guys
