Default WS6 + subs = :)

hey guys

I just got my ws6 this week, its amazing

I got 2, 12" RF subs, in a quazi big box from my cavalier that I sold. I think I will just put the box ontop of the deck behind the back seats. I hope it doesn't look too crappy. I have ttops so I need the trunk, and I don't want a stealth box, since I already have this set up.

I like the stock head unit I guess, but I do have a Pioneer 7600 HU sitting around not doing anything. I'm assuming this would be a better HU. I'll probably switch them out.

but if I don't switch them out, what wires do I need to patch into? just the ones from the rear speakers?

Also, is there a sticky thread or anything that has the faceplate and wiring harness that I'll need?

you will need to splice into the front speaker wires. tried the back wires and sounded like ****. Sell the subs, and head unit, and get the stealth box. this way you don't have something huge in the back that says steal me. If you put in the head unit I think you have to change all of your speakers as well because they run on a different ohm's than your stock system. I would look into that before I did anything.

i don't see any reason why I would need to change out the speakers b/c of an aftermarket HU. The different ohm's shouldn't matter.

When you change out the head unit, you don't have to change all the speakers. The thing about the ohms is that if you change out the speakers then the amp is putting out a certain watts at the lower ohms, that's why when you change speakers they aren't as loud, the head unit however will be fine.

I am working on that sticky as we speak

Herese the parts needs for head unit installation.

Every GM car will need
40-GM10 - GM factory antenna adapter for aftermarket head unit

Then you will select one of the following kits (adapts 1.5 din to 1 din)
99-3300 - Camaro 97-02 dash kit
99-3009 - Camaro 93-96/Firebird 1993 and UP dash kit
99-4544 - '82 and UP GM multi-kit with 1/2 DIN EQ option

Wiring harness to adapt the back of the radios wires to the factory plug
(highly recommended that you use this but not required)
70-1858 Pro Wire harness for 1993-02
