Question about BCM on 01 Z28
My car doesn’t always know when the driver’s side door is open, i.e. the dome light doesn’t come on, or the radio doesn’t cut off after turning the car off. It’s been doing this since I had my door taken off to repair accident damage. I’ve been told by a couple people (not mechanics, random internet people) that it’s a problem with the Body Control Module. I have four questions I’d like someone to answer, please.
1. Where is the BCM?
2. What does it look like?
3. How much does one cost?
4. How hard is it to fix/replace?
Will
Chances are that your problem is not with the BCM anyway. If the lights work normally when the passenger's door is opened then it is probably just the door switch on the driver's side. The switch is part of the door lock assembly which retails for about $60. You might want to clean the switch with some spray contact cleaner first before buying a new one.
