is the stock tape player a monsoon? If not I would assume you would need the amp as well as possibly the speakers.

Assuming both are Monsoon units then the CD will mount and plug in exactly like the cassette. Your other option would be to keep the cassette and get an OEM 6- or 12-disc CD changer. It mounts in the open area to the left of the t-top storage and the connecting cable is already there. You should be able to get one for around $150 on ebay or the for sale section on this board.

I think he means pulling the cassette Monsoon and popping the CD version of the same HU in there.

More than likely it will be an easy swap. Unplug one, plug the other in.

If you do run into a security issue, go to fbodyaudio.com and go to the tech link. In there is an explanation on how to reset it.

I figured that was what he was asking. Maybe I didn't express myself well.
There is no issue - security, mounting, connection, or otherwise - with swapping a Monsoon CD head unit for a Monsoon cassette head unit (assuming that the TheftLoc wasn't activated on the replacement unit). I just thought that if there was nothing wrong with the cassette unit (not malfunctioning) and he just wanted the capability to play CDs then a changer would give greater capabilties for about the same cost.

Hmmm... considering most of the cassette HUs came with the CD changer control built in you do have a very good point.

Whitebird is not one to be questioned when it comes to electronics, you will learn; he will teach you. He is a great souce of info and has saved me more than a couple of times. the swap on the other hand is really straight forward, I would go with the changer though.
