Default Turnsignal Burnt

Where can I get the holder for a turnsignal bulb? Not the bulb itself, it burnt the holder out, its the bigger turnsignal bulb (outer). Am I going to ahve to go through a dealer? Thanks,
John

When I got my car, both bulbs were burnt out, and the holders were pretty badly melted. I went and bought new bulbs, and scored some 1/4" thick FOAM washers. Replaced the bulbs and put the washers in (took some effort to reinstall cause they went in really tight with the added 1/4") and I've had no problems, even with the half-melted holders. I am actually swapping in LED's this weekend, which run a lot cooler.

My suggestion, if you want un-melted or un-warped holders is to buy them NEW from dealer (haven't seen them for sale anywhere besides used ones at a junkyard) and then put LED's in. My $.02...hope this helps

Just remember that LEDs draw significantly less power than bulbs so you'll also have to change to an electronic flasher - the thermal ones won't have enough power going through to make them flash.

How do you do this? Wasn't aware that I would have to...can you enlighten?

You can buy a 2-prong electronic flasher at any parts store for under $10. It just plugs in as a replacement for the original thermal flasher. The turn signal flasher is clipped to the underside of the dash just to the right of the opening when you remove the knee panel under the steering column. The easiest way to find it is to remove the knee panel then turn on the turn signal (not the hazard flashers) and follow the clicking noise.
