Default Installing right now... quick line convertor question

I am installing my PPI amps and diamond components this afternoon. Where should I install the scoche line level converter? I was thinking before the amp in the rear but wasnt sure that would work since I thought it was already a low level feed. Should I just tap the wires or how should I wire them in since I will be using the monsoon for the rear fill. Incase you cant tell I have never used a convertor... alwys just ran new decks. Oh well

Thanks
Brandon

I'm not sure I understand your question fully, but I'll try to help. The line-level converter gets its input from the speaker output of your factory system, which you probably already knew. It doesn't really matter much which outputs you use (front or rear), other than the fact that fading front/rear will affect the signal level going to the PPI (obviously). As for physical location, it really doesn't matter where in the car it goes, whatever's convenient. Length of speaker wire going into the converter vs. length of rca's going to the amp doesn't matter much either, as speaker-level isn't succeptible to noise, and the rca's are shielded anyway. Hope this helps, and if not, LMK.

Well my main question is.. are the input lines going into the amp suitable for using the line level? I just got to thinking about it and thought about the lines going into the amp ... are they usuable since they are used for signal to feed the amp. They dont carry actual power... or do they? Sorry... hard to explain this one. I am lacking some terms that would make this easier to understand.

If I cut the Dark Green, Light Green, Gray, and Tan wires, which are the front speaker amp inputs. Will I get a usuable signal with them connected to the convertor?

I say the fronts because I wouldnt be losing anything with the Monsoon since my PC275 will be powering the front Diamonds.

I think you've got it right, but I can relate to your 'fear of the unknown'. Take the wires you mentioned (make sure you have polarity correct), and connect them to the input of the converter. The 'plugs' from the converter output (called RCA's - line level) go to matching inputs on the amp. If there are SPEAKER-LEVEL or HIGH-LEVEL inputs on the amp, you can eliminate the converter because there's one built in. If you're still in doubt, post pics and we'll get 'er straight.
