Default Hatch Release Gear??

I don't know whats wrong with the hatch release, but both the button inside the car and the remote have a hard time unlatching the hatch. It sounds so horrible, like a gear stripping. Is there any kind of fix for this or will I have to find a new hatch motor? I did a search, but all I get is the spring mod.

As I recall there is not much to the release unit, I also have problems with it not releasing as well. I had a friend install a larger spring and it took care of all his problems. As for noise your solenoid might be going bad and that is what you are hearing.

Sounds like it it time to pull the cover and take a look and go to a stronger spring and give everthing a good look.

Would I have any luck finding a solenoid from another GM car?

Solved, the Buick Park Avenue 91-96 used the same solenoid that we do. I love Pick A Part!
