96 in a 99??

If you took a 96 T/A radio (that wasn't Bose) and installed it in a 99 then it should work fine. If it doesn't then there is something wrong.
Possible problems: the 96 radio is no good; you are replacing an aftermarket radio in the 99 with a factory radio from the 96 and the wiring in the 99 has been modified for the aftermarket radio; or, it could be something as simple as a blown fuse. There are two fuses for the radio in the 99 - one for the clock and station memory and the other to actually power the radio. Check the 15A fuse labeled RADIO and see if that is the problem.
