Default Key FOB questions...Help

I broke one of my FOBs in an unfortunate accident...

So now I have to replace it. the part number for the FOB is 16245100-29 . I did a search on gmpartsdirect and it lists the part just as a keyless entry control.

I do a search on Ebay and I find multiple hits.

This particular auction Click Here

Is listed as a Yukon, tahoe, suburban FOB. It is the same part number, and identical looking control.

A few auctions down the page there is an auction for a Camaro - Firebird FOB.... same numbers, just more expensive.

My question is..... are these the same FOB? I know they have the same PN... but the auctions seem to say they are for those speciific vehicle types.

My thoughts are that they are the same FOB.....since they have the same PN... and I would think that if the FOB actually were for a model other than the FBody, it would have a different pn.

Help!

The correct part number is 16245100 (the -29 at the end is meaningless). Any fob with that part number will be the same part regardless of what model it's listed for.

I believe the -29 denotes the hatch release... becuase there are fobs with the same pn on ebay without the hatch release... only difference is the ohter doesnt have the -29

That may be what's molded into the case of the fob but GM part numbers are all either 7 or 8 digits long without anything added to the end. In other words, you wouldn't use the -29 if you order the part from a dealer. 16245100 is the part number listed in the Camaro and Firebird parts catalog as the fob for 98-02 model f-bodies.

if your old remote was a 3 button or a 4 button, find the same one on ebay. I have plenty of 3 buttons, the 4 buttons sell too quick.
