WTF!!!!!! please help ASAP

I am trying to install my new headunit...

It will slide into where the monsoon used to be, but hits that 'tab' in the back of the dash (the metal one that goes up)... it makes the headunit stick out maybe an inch!!

From the side... |=== That the head unit...
and then the dash ___| is like that inside...

this is a 2000 Trans Am (Monsoon)

So WHY is the radio hitting that 'bumpstop' that the stock monsoon clears??

Please help ASAP, I am about to smash something!

Ya just snap it off, take a dremel to it, or just bend it out of the way...

Could be all the wires/RCA's smashed behind the unit.. thats what i ran into before.. just a thought.

No...not the wires, I think my dash kit just SUCKS!

Oh well, I got it to kinda fit....good enough for now!

they all have it, I just cut it off with a dremel, The stock deck has a two plane back surface to clear it, Won't hurt anything to remove.
