Default BCM question and part number

The dealer told me that the output signal to the door locks is fried in the BCM and a new one is $500. Does anyone know the part number for the BCM for a '98 Trans Am w/power everything, monsoon, cruise, and w/o traction control?

Also, is it possible to buy the $25 VATS bypass off ebay and throw in a used one?

First off, that dealership is screwing u on the price of the module... The part # is 9353691 & it lists for $206.52 in my parts dept... These modules have to be programed & can only be done once as well.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I had a feeling the dealer was trying to screw me on this one. Do you have advice on how to program these?

No problem & I work for a dealer(parts dept) & i don't know where they came up with that price... As far as programming goes, either the dealer or somone that has access to a gm tech II programmer will have to do it.

I know this sounds stupid, but if I buy a new BCM from GM Parts direct and install it myself. Will I be able to start the car to get it to the dealer so they can program it with a tech II? I don't know if it'll make a difference or not, but I have a Viper 791 hooked up to the car, which I know ties into a lot of BCM Wires.
