Replacing HU
My rear 6.5s are blown out.
I have 10inch sub that the amp uses a little box that splice into the rear speaker wires.
I want to put a new head unit in for now so that I can power the amp from the HU's preamps.
Just replacing the Headunit befine considering my 6.5s don't even work?
You will want to get a head unit with decent power output, as the head unit drives the front and hatch fill tweeters in a Pontiac / coupe / Monsoon setup.
Everything else will continue to work as normal.
Your factory head unit sends high level output to the high level input of the Monsoon amp. The amp then drives the front woofers, rear subs (dvc), and hatch fills mids.
Either way, I would recommend you just unhook the factory 6.5" subs. You don't need them with that 10" sub. You could do this and keep your setup just fine, no more Monsoon subs popping away. Just unhook them at the speaker.
20 minutes, no money spent, no need for a h/u.
