Default Valentine 1 Hardwire

I started trying to hardwire my V1 last night the same way they did on ls1howto.com and I could not get it to work for the life of me. In the picture below, which is behind the panel underneath the steering wheel, it says the brown wire is a 12 volt source. Has anyone else hardwired theirs this way? If so please help.

P.S. My voltage light went out last night so I could not verify this on my own.

To power mine, rather than splitting it off of another wire, I got a spade connector and plugged it into the open IGN port in the fusebox. There's also a BAT and ACC port in there too, these are meant for people adding aftermarket accessories.

Where is a good ground by the fusebox and where did you mount the little hardwire adapter? Thanks!

I worked up under the console, and used a coat hanger to feed the wire out beside the fuse box, and then plugged in the spade connector. So the V1 hard wire adapter is tucked up under the console.

From there, I the phone cord goes up behind the my A-pillar to the V1 by the rear view mirror, and another one comes out in my cluster for the remote display.

For a ground, I just found a screw under the console that was going into metal.

The brown wire is normally power for the parking/head lights. Try turning on your headlights and see if the detector works. If so then you need to find another power wire to use for power (unless you only want your detector on with the headlights).

The fuse panel is the best location but another power source is the yellow wire in the radio harness.
