a question for the experienced Ok, so what is the most cost effective way to get some more bump in the trunk of my SS? I dont want to spend much money considering im on a college student budget.

mild 2 channel or mono amp with one 10" (or 12", but a 10 would be cheaper) sub... f-bodies have great sound in the hatch, so just one sub will make a HUGE improvement in sound quality and volume.
as far as brands are concerned, that just has to be researched. there are PLENTY of threads here that discuss what other members have purchased, etc., or you could go to a local shop or retail store and throw some numbers with a sales guy. You just need to figure out what you've got to spend and plan accordingly...hope that helps.

I recommend picking up a used, amplified Bazooka tube off of eBay. Even the smallest 6.5" units will fill out the bottom end of a factory system quite nicely.
They are also a good solution if someone is selling one dirt cheap because the driver is blown. Just drop a new driver in and you're all set.
This is the path I would recommend for anything around $100 - 200 range.
Getting into $300 or so range and it becomes feasible to go with a stealthbox, 10", and mono amp. Or if you don't value space so much a bandpass works well too and are a dime a dozen second hand.
