Default Question on wiring 3rd and 4th channel to h/u

I finally got around to buying some used speakers to put in the sail panels where the stock subs were. They are Polk Audio dx6 6 1/2" speakers. Anyway, I've got RCA cables run from the amp (all 4 channels) but only channels 1 and 2 are connected to the h/u because I only have outputs for two channels. How do I hook up the 3rd and 4th channels to the h/u? Is it just as easy as getting an RCA splitter and hooking up all 4 channels to the two outputs on the h/u?

You might not need to have them connected to the amp if it has a switch that allows you to adjust where it receives its input from.
But you might not be able to use the fader controls if you don't have separate RCA's for the front and rear input on the amp.
If the amp doesn't have an input switch (which I'd be suprised) then the splitters should work.

Well as you can tell, I don't know a whole lot about car audio, but I don't see any kind of switch on my amp for that. Here is a pic of it: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Yso3j73...display=XL#Tab

My h/u is a Pioneer DEH-P470MP, btw.

If I have to use a splitter it won't be so bad. I can adjust the levels using the gain on the amp. I can't see myself using the fader very much anyway.

Hmmm...ok. I think I figured this out...tell me if I'm right or wrong. I have "front output" RCAs and "subwoofer output or non fading output" RCAs on the back of my h/u. Does this mean that I connect all 4ch to these RCAs and then run my sub amp to the "pre-out" on my 4ch amp?

This makes sense to me, but it would seem like I would also loose the ability to control the subs with my h/u as well as the back/front fading. That's going to be annoying.

You should be able to run all 4 channels on that amp off of the input from your front channel RCA's, and then if you have a separate sub amp you run your non-fading RCA's to it.
I wouldn't think you'd need all 4 RCA inputs on that amp hooked up to get 4 channel output from it, but if you do then the y splitters should work.
Hope this helps.
